Choreographies of Filmmaking – a study

Eye Filmmuseum, Amsterdam

Research

Video installation

Performing the filmmaker — this study approaches filmmaking as a form of choreography. The act of filming is explored as a physical and performative gesture, with the camera functioning as an extension of the body: a tool not only for seeing, but for moving, sensing, and relating.

How does the apparatus shape bodily movement? What happens when vision is fully mediated through the lens? What emerges in the encounter between two lenses? What does it evoke to point a camera at someone? And who holds power when the camera is watching?

Presented as a multi-channel video installation with synchronised footage from each camera, the work stages a mirrored dance of perspective.
