Sunsets are for Tourists is a live performance about looking, memory and intimacy.

What meanings can we discover when we look at the images we make of each other? A collection of photographs of a sleeping ex, the bedrooms once inhabited and the absence of a counter shot form the backdrop to this narrative.
Using cut-out text and an overhead projector, the performance questions how the internalized male gaze shapes our memory and perception.

Through personal texts paired with a private archive, the work explores how female identity is constructed through the gaze of the other. What is negotiated in the exchange of gazes? And which image belongs to whom?
